What does that mean? I struggled with that thought after speaking with a counselor to whom I had posed the question: If I was your client and you could tell me ONLY ONE THING to help me change my life, what would that ONE THING be? What was my picture? Did I see myself content, with fulfilling work, loving and being loved, having my needs met and experiencing the joy of meeting the needs of

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge… (Hosea 4:6)”  The last thing a parent wants his or her child to become is self- destructive but the reality is that unless we become their greatest teachers, they will have no other choice. When you teach your child, you are imparting knowledge into them. You have the power and ability to provide them with a working understanding for responding appropriately in various situations. “And these words,

I went to one of the top psychiatrists in the country, also a specialist in psychopharmacology. I suffer from severe depression, and he put me on several meds and we did intensive talk therapy over the past few years. Over time, he would add more meds and increase the dosages. Instead of getting better, I have gotten far worse– to the point that I am barely able to function at times and am nothing like the

Strict Parenting

Most of the parents that have placed their children with us have already exhausted methods of behavior modification such as giving incentives through rewards and punishments. The CARES Heart Transformation approach has far greater and lasting results than Behavior Modification Methods because the CARES approach considers how the heart works, reaches it and transforms it whereas Behavior Modification attempts to create habitual behavior through repetition, repercussion or mind chemistry alteration. Heart transformation results in genuine intent as opposed to Behavior Modification which fails in its attempt to instill instinctive behaviors which can be easily lost or never attained in the first place.

familyIsaiah 54:7-17 Good News Translation (GNT) 7. For one brief moment I left you; with deep love I will take you back. 8. I turned away angry for only a moment, but I will show you my love forever.” So says the Lord who saves you.  9. “In the time of Noah I promised never again to flood the earth. Now I promise not to be angry with you again;  I will not reprimand or punish you. 10. The mountains and hills may crumble, but my love for you will never end; I will keep forever my promise of peace.” So says the Lord who loves you.  This is why kids master the art of manipulation at the pre-teen to teen age range. From what they have learned growing up, they now begin to punish their parents with bad behavior when they don’t get their way and reward them when they do. Why is that? Simply because they learned performance-based love growing up. This method failed and sending them to a behavior modification based program is futile.

C.A.R.E.S. Treatment is an approach based on relationship building rather than performance. This is the difference between C.A.R.E.S. Treatment and other programs. Ezekiel had a prophesy in Ezekiel 36:26-27 that was also fulfilled at the cross and spoken of in the book of Hebrews below. It was that God would reveal his face and have direct relationship with his children because theirs sins would be forgiven and forgotten all due to that one perfect sacrifice. Now, he focuses on the relationship instead of the behavior. Honestly, you end up sacrificing the relationship if your focus is on punishing behavior. The beauty of it is that because C.A.R.E.S. builds on the relationship, the behavior performs as a result of heart change, making us one of the leading Christian Rehab Centers in the nation. That’s right it is because of the goodness of God that people are Spirit-led to repent.

Hebrews 8:10, 12 King James Version (KJV) 10. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: …12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

C.A.R.E.S. Christian Rehab Treatment offers a holistic and complete restoration approach to teen drug addiction rehab, through a transformation of heart and mind both in the teen and the parents. As mentioned earlier, behavior modification is based on incentives such as punishments and rewards, phases and levels, demotions and promotions. Many times even intimidation, disappointment and seclusion is used. And in the worst case scenario, restraint and sedation is incorporated. This is not the way God loves us and this is NOT how heart transformation works. In the scripture below you will get a glance at the heart of God through Isaiah’s prophecy which would be fulfilled when Jesus was punished at the cross for the sins and behaviors of all mankind.

C.A.R.E.S. Treatment is unique in that it not only works with the teen or young adult, but it also coaches the parents and supportive family members in the proper way to respond to their child as opposed to the reactions that come natural to us. This empowers the parent to open their child’s heart so that the message reaches that heart. Mediation between the parents and child begins immediately through phone or Skype. Parents are taught that affection (voice tone, word choice, body language, and attitude of spirit) plus discipline (as opposed to punishment) equals love.

You will learn grace-based heart transformation, biblical parenting routines, and techniques that opens and changes hearts. It can be accomplished in as little as 30 days. In some instances, it may require up to 90 days. Rarely does the teen continue in the teen drug addiction program beyond 90 days.

C.A.R.E.S. Treatment works through phone coaching, video and online resources, direct mediation among the child and parents through phone calls or Skype, and reports on how we are reaching the heart of your child. It may require an intervention. The Program may occur while the teen remains at home, or it may be in the best interest of the teen for them to receive discipleship and treatment in our resort-style program, where the teen lives in one of our homes and receives coaching on a one-on-one to one-on-three coach to student ratio. This arrangement can afford the parents and the child a needed break without sacrificing socialization.
